Here at Trinity Kindergarten we are very proud of our Rising Stars Sessions. The idea behind these are to provide children between the ages of 3 and 6 with an innovative, unique and adaptable learning journey where we recognize and support
children’s different developmental stages and learning dispositions.
We believe that a moving child is a learning child. The human body is wired to learn through movement. When children crawl, walk, run scoot, giggle and swing they are doing what nature requires them to do: moving their bodies to prepare their brains for learning.
Our aim is that children develop their physical, social and emotional attributes before they transition on to school and our flexible learning approach includes science, technology, literacy and numeracy in fun, interesting and exciting ways.
We invite the community to learn alongside us and share their knowledge with the tamariki on their learning path.
The programme has a strong focus on the development of foundations skills, an introduction to our Literacy programme “Letterland” and other exciting learning experiences. We focus on core skills such as:
Holding a pencil, and writing their name
Cutting and gluing
Early literacy and numeracy skills. Letter and number recognition.
Hopping, skipping, jumping, balancing through the Perceptual
Social skills, working within a small group
Self-managing and independence
